Sunstead SunBed is a plant-based animal bedding made from upcycled sunflower hulls. During sunflower processing, the protective hull is separated from the seed and transformed into clean bedding for backyard chickens, poultry, and compatible small animals. SunBed helps absorb moisture, reduce dust, and support natural odor control while providing a comfortable bedding surface. Independent testing showed the material can absorb up to 436% of its dry weight in water. Each 22 lb bag provides approximately 2 cubic feet of bedding and covers about 20 square feet when spread at a 1-inch depth. Use in chicken coops, poultry houses, nesting areas, and other properly maintained animal enclosures. Remove wet or heavily soiled bedding as needed and replenish with fresh material. SunBed is compostable after use when appropriate for your local composting practices. Store unused bedding in a clean, dry location.
